For as long as I can remember, I have been going on an annual snow trip to the small mountain town, Big Bear, California. Under 100 miles from my hometown, Big Bear is always a good idea for a quick escape.
As far as staying goes, there’s a few options. Airbnb, bigbearcabins.com, vrbo.com, or just any of the small hotels in the area. But when I stay the night, I prefer booking a cabin through Airbnb to immerse myself in the whole mountain vibe. Or, if you live close enough, you can do a day trip- which is pretty common for my family.
Once you’re in the town… First stop: Leroy’s for rentals if you don’t like to keep up with caring for your own snow gear (like me). Then head for the slopes and spend the day at Bear Mountain or Snow Summit- or jump between the two since the passes are synonymous between them.
I grew up skiing but learned how to snowboard a few seasons ago and have been doing it ever since. I love being able to go up to the mountains, even just for a day trip and getting to experience a complete different side of California. Just an hour and a half from the beach, Big Bear is the perfect Winter day getaway.
With love,
Carly
